An open 2-day workshop organised by the BASELINE and IESERV2 projects sponsored by European Commission DGXIII-E (Lux) held on 15th-16th December 1998 at C-LAB Paderborn, Germany and hosted by C-LAB Siemens-Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG (SNI) & Paderborn University.
Aims of the meeting
Organisations develop web sites to fulfill many different business objectives, such as support, e-commerce, education and training, marketing, and entertainment. Each objective communicates different types of information and requires different methods of presentation. Usability validation identifies the extent to which web sites meet the requirements and expectations of visitors. Essential in the process of web site development is the identification of critical success factors for site usability and evaluation of the extent to which a site meets those factors.
This event aimed to assist web designers and developers in targeting sites to specific business objectives. Day one provided an overview of the subject with sessions looking at the identification of success factors for product usability, and methods of evaluating visitor satisfaction. The focus of the workshop on day two was to provide practical help for creating user validation plans for electronic information products such as web sites and electronic newspapers etc.
